Carlo Upholstery covers four areas of work — bespoke furniture, reupholstery and restoration, automotive interiors, and lodge & hospitality fit-outs. Each one happens in the same Windhoek workshop, with the same hands, to the same standard.
New pieces, built from a sketch, a conversation, or a Pinterest board. Sofas, armchairs, ottomans, headboards, dining benches, occasional and side tables — we design and construct them to the proportions of your room, the colours of your fabric, and the rhythm of your life.
Every commission begins with a visit or a long conversation. We sketch, suggest, recommend, and quote. Once approved, the timber is selected, the frame is built, the upholstery is fitted, and the piece is delivered — typically four to eight weeks later, depending on size.
The armchair that has carried three children through their reading years. The lounge suite that has hosted twenty Christmases. The wing chair you found at a market in 1989. We strip these pieces back, repair the frame where it needs repairing, replace the foam and webbing, and re-cover them in the fabric of your choosing.
Reupholstery is not the cheaper option. It is the slower, more careful option — and frequently the more satisfying one. A piece restored properly lasts another generation.
Car interiors, 4x4 fit-outs, marine seating, and classic restorations. We work in leather, vinyl, neoprene, and heavy-duty canvas — whatever the vehicle and its conditions demand. Many of our automotive jobs are for safari and overland vehicles bound for the long roads of Namibia.
We re-cover seats, headliners, door cards, dashboards, and centre consoles. We rebuild foam where it has flattened. We replace headrests and re-stitch wherever a seam has gone. The work that leaves our workshop is built to survive what Namibian driving will do to it.
Furnishing a lodge is a different exercise from furnishing a home. The pieces have to be beautiful, but they also have to survive twenty thousand guests, daily cleaning, dust, sun, and the occasional drink. We have been outfitting lodges across Namibia for decades.
Our outdoor seating sits on stoeps and patios from the Kunene to the Caprivi. Our dining benches and lounge suites furnish dining rooms and lapas. We work directly with lodge owners, interior designers, and architects to deliver matched sets of furniture that fit the brief — and the climate.
Custom furniture pricing depends on size, materials, fabric, and complexity. Reupholstery is quoted after we see the piece in person, since condition matters more than dimensions. Automotive and lodge work is quoted by project.
Send us a photo, a description, or visit the workshop. We'll come back with a clear, written quote within a few days.
Whether it's a single chair waiting to be restored, a custom sofa for the new living room, or twenty matching dining chairs for a lodge — we'd be glad to hear from you.
